Greetings,

I have recently acquired the 35-350 lens, though it did not come with the hood. The original one is quite rare, and often expensive, I am still in the process of trying to find one that is a)cheap enough b) will ship to my country  I will end up needing one eventually, and it is always good to have one ready, because I mostly shoot at packed places, protests, etc.

Anyways, I was thinking, if anyone happens to know, whether any of the other lens hoods designed for other Canon lenses might work with this particular example. Unfortunately I have no means of testing that myself, so I am hoping someone picked up a rumor along the way. There is always the option of "universal" screw in lens hoods, but to be honest, that is my last (and by far the cheapest) option. The official designation for the lens hood is EW-78 or EW-78 II. The 28-135 uses a similar hood and has the same 72 millimeter diameter, if I am not mistaken.

But, on the other hand, there is this:

Canon EW-78B Fits Canon EF 28-135 f/3.5-5.6 IS USM

Canon EW-78B II Fits Canon EF 28-135 f/3.5-5.6 IS USM

Canon EW-78C Fits Canon EF 35 f/1.4L USM

Canon EW-78D Fits Canon EF 28-200 f/3.5-5.6, EF 28-200 f/3.5-5.6 USM

If anyone is able to help, please do.

Cheers!

Don't know if they have them in stock but might be worth a try?

Cheaper here:

Hope this helps.

I have a brand new new EW-78II that you're welcome to (free)......I sold the lens 12 years ago and the hood has been living in the back of a cupboard since then.

I'm in France and postage to Serbia is quite expensive but if you're happy to wait about 10 days then I can post it when I pass through the UK late next week.

I found the link on Amazon, but unfortunately, they will not ship to Serbia, and the retail price on the Canon store is a bit too steep for such a commodity as the lens hood is, but thanks!

Well, Bob, you left me stunned. Thanks a lot for your offer, you caught me by surprise, and don't mind if I take your offer  Regarding shipment I guess we can talk about that in PM, but you will have to send me the message first, as I haven't fulfilled the necessary quota of 20 messages...yet.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Cheers!

As the owner of a 35-350 that was an extremely kind offer & well worth the cost of shipping. I hadn't used mine in the last year or two (I have the 28-300 L IS too) but decided to re test it 2 weeks ago & I'm still impressed by my copy.
