I'm having trouble identifying this one. I said it's a Black Swallowtail (the Oklahoma State Butterfly). A friend insists it's a SpiceBush Swallowtail. Because it was moving pretty fast, I didn't get a definitive shot of the open wing and the underwing seems to not quite be anything I have found. After more research, I don't know what it is. If anyone knows what it is, please help.

Thank you! I had not heard of that one. This is a different butterfly but I think it is the same species - correct?

Thanks they were fun. The first set was in my backyard garden the second on top of Mt. Scott in the Wichita Mountains National Wildlife Refuge in SW Oklahoma.

I am no expert ...however the Pipevine does not have the white spots on upper wings as the Spicebush does...there are small white marks along the edge of upper wing but no large spots on wing itself as there is on Spicebush....at least in the examples i have seen.
