I have not used the camera very much yet of course... here is what I did earlier this week
This is a picture of the moon at wide angle - I took these on manual mode which I was able to adjust the shutter speed by turning the dial on the back of the camera. To change the aperture, press the UP key (top of the turning dial) watch the bottom of the screen it will toggle between shutter speed and aperture pressing the UP key continually.
For the moon shots I had the camera on a tripod. I love the fact the LCD screens flips up, which makes it easier to view anything with the camera on an angle, or if you lower the camera closer to the ground you don't have to get on the ground to see what you are doing.
The reason Canon made the screen flip up was so you can do a "selfie" if you wish.

I learned this morning it is also possible to manually focus this camera. When in any mode, press the dial on back of camera to the LEFT you will see a new menu at top of screen, Macro, Normal and MF, toggle left or right to select which one you want then press the center button to select what you want. When MF is selected, you will see a new scale vertically, pressing the UP or DOWN button (again using the turning dial) press UP or DOWN you will see the focus change. Pressing the RIGHT side it will zoom in on your subject to 2X then 4X then back to normal, BUT the screen gets darker, grainier which makes it harder to focus.
