I've put my foot down on a two pet limit. Though we did have rats years ago, in addition to our 2 cats. I didn't care for the rat years.

Two pets? Were the rats pets, or just visitors. I don't think we've ever had just two pets. Current population: two people, 7 cats, two dogs (110# & 40#), two parakeets and a fish tank with maybe 20 fish. My wife wants a horse. I hope she keeps it outside.

The rats were pets. They were interesting at first, very smart and social. We ended up getting an evil biter that turned the others antisocial and I lost interest (especially after taking a tooth through my thumbnail). We were always pretty pet limited after years of living in apartments and homes with small yards. We now have acreage but I am happy enough loving on the neighbors' dogs.

A horse huh? Maybe you can talk her into a couple more fish and save a small fortune :)
