Mini-Review: YongNuo 2x III TC (Canon Knockoff)

It is perhaps the cheapest way to convert your 70-200 2.8 II to a 140-400 f5.6 with great IQ, so the TC should find a place in some people's bags. I just wouldn't use it as my only 2x TC.

Ιf all you have is the EF 70-200 f2.8... it's good enough... I might use it as a 400 for a backup body in a safari, while renting a EF 100-400 MkII as the primary combo.

I am thinking about the Yongnuo 1.4X either in series with the 2X on the 5DIII or by itself with the 100-400 taking advantage of the f8 AF capability of the 5DIII...

For a 1.4x, I think there are many other better options at the same basic price point. I would look at other options for a 1.4x. I haven't seen anything positive mentioned about that TC, probably because there are so many good options from which to choose.

I know this is a Yongnuo 2X thread, but could you pass on some of the info you hinted about for a 1.4X extender?

The reports on the Yongnuo say it may be erratic, but these reports are not from a photography forum.

Just reviews from online sales and random search results really... However for the price, there seems to be many great options like the Kenko, or even the Canon II 1.4x, or the Sigma. I believe they are all are within the same basic price range.
