Portrait session in a studio with Canon speedlites and Bowens strobes.

Hi guys,

I like to share few images form my latest photoshoot I did for a client of mine, who wanted some creative portraits - like the one in my Creative portrait photography portfolio.

Here is the first image I just finished editing today - for this image I used one Canon 580 ex as main light, mounted on a Coco Ring Flash Adapter for Canon 580EX II as a main light and one Bowens on a strip box as a rim light. The combo was triggered b Pocketwizard Mini tt1 triggering the Canon speedlite which then triggered the Bowens. I did this combo do the the fact that the studio I used had only 4 strobes, this image was captured at the end of the session - where I dismounted the set of 7 lights.

Low key portrait

Here is the second image, I just finished editing. For this image I used in total 7 strobes, mixture of Canon speedlits and Bowens strobes.

Cracking image! Great lighting and great picture all round.

Like the first one a lot.

Don't care for the second one ... it's sort of "meh" as if he's waiting for someone adjusting photo gear. May have liked a red background on the 2nd one too.

But I'll take a look again later .. maybe I'll change my mind on the 2nd one.

@mdvaden - I'm perfectly happy if I can pool just one decent image, like the first one in this thread, but obviously as he was a customer he wanted some more images - as i said the biger value for me is just one beautifully executed image that can go to my portfolio.

love the lighting and colors in the second photo.

I love the pose and the intensity of the stare in the first photo. The blue light I could do without as I find that the white light just caresses enough the subject.

Left corner of his mouth and right side of his glasses both have a glimmer that I find catch my eye negatively.

Of course, it is easy for me to criticize in hindsight the minor details I would change, it still is a great photo and I would be pleased to have captured it myself.
