For two years, I've used Canon 430 EX ii speedlites and 2 Flashpoint 360s, triggering with Phottix Odin. I have two sets of Phottix Odin triggers and receivers and like them. I'm planning to order one or two Flashpoint (Godox) AD600 XPLOR with a Flashpoint Flashpoint R2 E-TTL 2.4G Wireless Flash Trigger. I noticed that trigger has a hotshoe on top. My questions to other helpful forum users are:

1. If I use the Flashpoint trigger, say, for the Flashpoint AD600, can I mount the Phottix Odin on top too to trigger other speedlites w/ Phottix receivers?

2. If I order the Flashpoint receivers for the Flashpoint R2 E-TTL 2.4G Wireless Flash Trigger, will those receivers trigger Canon speedlites or Flashpoint 360s, even if the flash settings are manual?

I'm gleaning that the Flashpoint R2 E-TTL 2.4G Wireless Flash Trigger can trigger lites with sync ports, but I'm in the dark about speedlites fired via the hotshoe connection.

For the speedlites you can use the X1 receivers and for the 360 you can get a 2.4GHz USB receiver XTR16. (FPRRR2SLR)

Will the Flashpoint R2 E-TTL Wireless Flash Remote Trigger coming with the AD600 I ordered, send signal to those two models of receivers that you mentioned? One description I went back to review suggests that it should.

The R2 comes with the Flashpoint Xplor 600, and a nice case too. If you are interested in the manual version, Adorama has the bundle on sale for $399 now, so kind of getting the AD600M for $354.

For your first question: no, the hot shoe on the X1 is not ETTL pass-through. You can use a single point dumb trigger on top, not another ETTL trigger.

Thanks. Looks like I'll be learning plenty about this Flashpoint system in the weeks ahead. I'm also considering a couple of Flashpoint speedlites ..

Yes. Just don't go with earlier Canons before the Mk II EX flashes (e.g., 580EX, 430EX, 550EX).

What you need is the R2 receiver for Canon for the 430EXII, and then the XTR16 receivers for the AD360(MkI) units (external link). If you have AD360II units, those have R2 transceivers built-in, like the AD600 has an R2 receiver built in.

Also, for the transmitter, if you're happy to wait a week or so, are comfortable being an early adopter (possible inadvertent beta-tester :)), and you don't need a trigger with a hotshoe up top, you may also want to look at the R2 Pro transmitter (external link). The UI looks nicer than that of the older trigger, and quite a few features have been added, such as group zoom and modeling light control, as well as a new TTL lock feature.

Thanks.

I'm guessing this model at Amazon is the same basic thing, maybe a newer design where the group wheel was moved for easier rotation by thumb.

Presently I have the earlier generation of 360's without built-in receivers. Plan to keep them,so I'll check into what those need.

That's not the same thing!!! (Note how it says "for non R2 Zoom li-ion speedlights").

That's an XTR16s. It's for the Mark I versions of the V850 and V860 speedlights, and uses a proprietary four-pin connector, not the USB connector that fits The AD180/AD360 and various Godox studio strobes. Look for the USB connector, and the pics of the trigger connected to the light. What you want is the "for non-R2 Streaklights" (external link). Adorama's Flashpoint name for the AD360/AD360II is the Streaklight.

The Flash Havoc article on the XT16 triggers (external link) makes the distinction pretty clear, and that both receivers are the same age. :)

You need the "FPRRR2SLR"....just paste it in Google or an other search machine and be awesomed by the ease in finding the correct receiver.
