Hey X-t2 owners using the new firmware 2.12

Hey Fuji X-t2 users...........anyone notice the almost rattlesnake auto focus motor response with the new X-T2 Camera Body Firmware Update Ver.2.12

I immediately noticed this characteristic with my 56mm and 16mm prime.
I'm assuming this is the new firmware attempting to speed up the autofocus acquisition.
Not a big deal but for some but what will be noticeable is that in constant AF in video mode non external mic use will have alot of noise picked up.

If you compare this AF motor algorithm vs a Canon with dual pixel technology it's like a comparing an erratic unrefined unbalanced engine to a purring V12 power plant (silly analogy). I sure hope Fuji refines this firmware with smoother AF.

You can observe this new "change" by the erratic vibration of the camera body.

I'm not quite sure if the AF is really that much faster but now. I'm finding that my X-t2 seems more of an unrefined juvenile system rather than the mature system that it is......

Not really nit picking since I still mainly use my fuji for stills. This is just my observation.......

Are you talking continuous or single Alan?

EDIT: DPAF from Canon was great for video, as I remember it on my 70D, I'd imaging it only got better in the 80D.

I'm using single shot and you can feel the AF motor aggressively working (16mm and 56mm f/1.2). Not as bad as the rattle snake issue with the micro 4/3 panasonic/leica 25mm f/1.4.

I noticed a speed difference in my 10-24mm as it's more aggressive without a doubt in trying to acquire AF.

Following my firmware update I found the 56mm to vibrate the camera body more than usual. Almost like the cheap Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 mk2 plastic body prime.

Indoors when I closely look in the viewfinder I can see the X-t2 doing an extremely quick hunt almost like it has no confidence in locking on but then it immediately locks on in adequate light. You can totally feel the body pulsate alot more than before.

At the end of the day a stills shooter will feel a difference in AF speed. For video clips I think the lens is actually gotten louder as the AF is in constant mode.

My 80D autofocus is faster but when it locks on it moves the internals of the lens in one throw with confidence due to DPAF. I'm confused what Fuji has done with this new firmware. I noticed this especially today as I was shooting my X-t2 indoors this afternoon using available light.

I will do more testing but I think this new firmware has changed the characteristics of the AF motor movement both in speed and AF locking feedback.

Is that since 2.12?

PDAF should pop on but CDAF will jiggle if you know what I mean.
