I am looking for a couple 7D II batteries and possibly a double battery charger?

I was told about Wasabi. I picked up 4 for my 7D and have had zero issues.

Wasabi: 2 batteries and a charger at Amazon for $29. Can't beat it.

The batteries from my 40D won't work, will they?

I don't believe so. IIRC, the 40D uses BP-511 batteries. The 7D2 uses LP-E6(n).

I had the Wasabi batteries when I had my 5D2 which I believe Canon used for a LOT of the cameras. Never had an issue and they lasted quite a while in camera. Like mentioned above, bought 2 with charger for $30

all the batteries I see on Amazon "that work on the 7Dii" are listed as batteries to replace the LP-E6 NOT the LP-E6n... what does that mean?

Don't need LP-E6N... LP-E6 are just fine.

My 80D uses an LP-E6N battery. I've used my Canon LP-E6 from the 6D, two several-year old Wasabi replacements, and the 80D-original battery in the 80D & 6D. No problems. I just ordered two more Wasabi replacements from Amazon for $19, with no shipping costs. Yain't gonna do much better than that.

I have two wasabi batteries and a charger. I would not buy them again. Now there are other brands on Amazon with much better ratings.

LP-E6 is Canon's current "ubiquitous" battery.

It is used in more bodies across more ranges than any other in Canon's history. (it's in no less than 4 complete lines of bodies, 80D, 7D2, 6D2, 5D4)
It's installed base even surpasses the BP511 that only made it into two lines.

The LP-E6n merely is merely a slightly improved performance version made by Canon, but is otherwise identical in use to the pre-N version.
