For me ive really enjoyed Gavin Hoey and Mark Wallace both from adorama (i believe). Two words to describe them both is interesting and simple. And really its the "simple" part that makes one a good teacher. Ive taught many things myself and one thing I learned in my teaching experience is that the more you understand something the simpler you can make the audience understand.
On the flip side, my foray on youtube led me to watch some videos from Jason Lanier. Im not sure where I became aware of his name but he sounded familiar and important :) Anyways I watched his youtube videos and he has quite the following but he just doesnt work for me. Nothing against the quality of his work because his success should speak for itself. So am I missing something and should I try to continue to learn from him or...?

Anyways who do you like?

Syl Arena is the best that I've found.

1Dx - 5DIII - 40D - Canon 24-70LII, 100L macro, 135L, 16-35L, 70-200 f4 and 100-400L lenses

- "Very good" is the enemy of "great." Sometimes we confuse the two.

I watch FAR more youtube than TV or anything else in my house. For me in the lighting area I watch Daniel Norton @ Adorama some of the in studio ones are long but he also has some shorter ones on the Adorama youtube page. I think he is VERY good.

Also on youtube I follow Joe Edelman just because of his lighting video's.

Thats how I am. Tv really hasnt held my attention for a very long time so why not try to learn something while relaxing.

Slanted Lens is the only photo channel I'm subscribed to. Joe Edelman has caught my attention, though. Some others I've checked out include Joel Grimes and a few of the other superstar names.

Frankly, most of the photographers running channels annoy me because most of them waste time--basically a matter of poor video production.

In terms of great video production, I'd point out Curtis Judd as an example to follow. He's primarily an audio guy, but photographers who do videos need to pay attention to his audio information as well.

Two of those for me, plus one or two more.

Thomas Heaton, Simon Baxter, Toma Bonciu (Photo Tom). Three great young landscape photographers whom I hugely admire. I don't even really do landscape photography (hey ... I'm looking at doing it and I've bought the kit!) but watching these guys at work is really inspirational. And Heaton and Baxter are photographing the countryside around where I grew up ... and it's wonderful and evocative to be drawn back into it.

For post-processing, I don't think anything can beat Anthony Morganti. You can learn much faster from watching his short sharp videos than you can from written articles (this from someone who is a totally believer in the power and efficiency of written language).

David.
Comment and (constructive) criticism always welcome.
