It was hardly about to enter service, they had only built the two prototypes. Rolly Beaumont did really like the aircraft though, although many others were less sure. Not that many got to fly it of course. What was a little odd, and did seem vindictive was that the new Labour Govt that cancelled it insisted that everything related to the project was to be destroyed, nothing was to be left. The Govt had paid for the project, but it was very unusual to do that. I guess because they didn't want any chance of it being turned into a private venture and sold abroad, or I guess being resurected by a future Govt of a different political colour. Interesting how the two airframes ended up surviving though.
The shot a Duxford looks to me as if it was at about the time that it turned up there. I take it the Cosford shot was at about the same time? IIRC, and judging by the cars in the Duxford shot early 80s?
