School project

Converted this from a color file and did some selective dodging and burning,what do you think?

It lacks 'pop', I'd like to see the original shot.

I took a liberty. I dropped mid-range levels and intensified shadows in Photoshop CS. In the original image, it's clear that the light background has been darkened. I haven' really changed that. I don't know that it's a bad thing that the image you posted lacks punch. Sometimes, punch isn't desireable and that's always up to the eye of the individual appraising the image.

Heres the original.I did burn in the higlights of the background to darken it a little.I also dodged out the midtones of the horses to give a little more detail.I'm still new with PS so i'm learning the nuances.

I perfer the original

Generally I prefer color, but in this case I do like the original conversion.

i like the color pic better, but theres something about the black and white that catches my eye. Good shots
