White balance is off........the stone has a purple tint.

Love the composition but I do agree the white balance is a bit off. I like to stick to opposite colors of the spectrum so if you have a warm foreground, go with a grey/blue background and it really pops! I actually think doing the foreground shadows grey/blue and warming the background would completely change the picture as well. Taking a picture is merely getting in the car for a trip. The fun part is deciding where you want to go from there.

I know the exact spot very well. I'm trying to remember the actual colour of the stone. It's certainly not a completely neutral grey. The flagstones definitely have some warmth in their colour and a wide variation stone by stone. A slight purple cast is not unusual in flagstones.

So I'm not 100% convinced that the white balance is actually 'off'.

But the sky is a bit purple too... I think it's off as well. Slide it over a few hundred and I'm sure it will look better.

It's a case of whatever gives the most pleasing result, I think ... and it's very easy to adjust. But it would be a pity if that 'heather' tint in the natural stone was lost altogether.

I'd be inclined to clone out the litter and the graffiti. They are both authentic to London but this shot is going for that 'picture postcard' look. They don't really belong.
