I said it would never happen....but I think I've joined the 'duck brigade'...

What do you think?

You know, I'm surrounded by duck shooters in the U.S. who would vomit at this image. They favor those typical ducks-in-flight shots that are oversharpened, oversaturated and overhyped.

This looks to me like a painting. I've said before that if I could manipulate a brush like nature painters such as Robert Bateman, I'd never pick up a camera again. But I can't. So I use the existing elements in nature and a mechanical (nowadays, make that electronic) device to compose and frame. I like photographic images that resemble paintings, and this does so nicely. The vignetting effect simply heightens the brilliance of the subject.

Fine work. Thanks for giving it to us.

Thank you. :o I spent an hour trying to get a decent shot of the ducks, then I lost the light and on impulse I thought I'd just try one more time with a bit of flash...it was the last shot I had left on the memorycard.

Sometimes lady luck is lending us a hand.

Yes, it was clearly a flash image. Intent? No intent? Lady luck has not visted me often, but when she has, it has had notable results. I never frown on luck. It's like frowning on life.
