Hello All,

long time, no chat!!! Been busy raising a little moster, hehe. Anyhow, I've sold off all my Elinchrom and Paul C. Buff gear and bought into Flashpoint by Adorama. I'm looking for the tightest Bowens mount long-throw reflector I can find and hoping for some suggestions. I used to have a 16", 22 degree long throw reflector by Elinchrom and am hoping for something similar. All I could seem to find on the Adorama site is/are 40-45 degree reflectors. Any and all help much appreciated!

Much love,

Aressem ;)

You know, I don't think I've seen anything that narrow either. Most that I see are 45*, with Dynalite making a 40* that they advertise as for sports.

You know what - I was wrong. It was the 16" Maxi Spot reflector by Elincrom, which was 29 degrees.

You can get those Bowens reflectors with grids, limit the spread to 30, even 20 degrees.

Like this 10" 65 degree reflector with 30 grid..

I think the only way to get tighter beams without losing all the light from grids is to get a fresnel or a follow spot from a theatrical place.

I agree that a grid is typically going to lower the effective light hitting the subject.

I bought some cheap plastic fresnel magnifying thingies from the local book store last week. I have not had time to test them out but hope that I can cut the larger one to size for a 5" reflector and make a Better Beamer type thing.

Aressem, what is your usage? do you just need a spot in part of the image area or do you want to evenly light the entire frame/subject at a distance? What distance?

Tallyns Turbo F-16 is a little bit bigger at 6 inches.. But it is used for backgrounds and SFX.. Amazon's Link~~ https://www.amazon.com …arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8 (external link)

I’m shooting skiers and snowboarders in the air. I don’t want light spilling onto the ground.

Do you have someone tracking them with the lights as they fly by? Or are they just sitting on stands?

Both cheetah stand long throw reflectors are on sale and come with the 30 degree grid.

I have heard that he will ship to Canada, ask nice and definitely DONT mention you bought Flashpoint units. lol

The grids will eat up some light though.
