DLee: "Does anyone use this body with Metabones and Canon lenses?"

I just read your question; probably you're received many answers to your question, but...I just got a 7R3 system running and am on my third (and last, I hope) iteration of lenses*. Just this week I've started testing the manual-focus TS-Es with the 7R3 and Metabones v.5 adapter. Performance is perfect in every way it can be. Said another way, I'm thrilled.

But the camera is still TOO SMALL; I use a SmallRig L-bracket...

...that provides about 5/8" of height so that I can use my little finger to help carry the camera. I also applied some GT-5000 grip tape...

..around the front of the camera's grip and the front and right side of the L-bracket. I can now carry my camera confident that I won't drop it.

WA, Canon 24mm TS-E (gen.2)
Midlength, Canon 45mm TS-E (gen.1)
Long, Sony 70-200/4/G/OSS

All of this will fit in my carryon-legal ThinkTank Airport TakeOff rolling bag.

Hey! Thanks for the response. It was quite some time ago that I posted that and I'm now the proud owner of a A7III with MC-11 so already have a good idea of what the performance is like. The MC-11 performs surprisingly well with Canon lenses too.

I had the same issue with the A7R3 and the 100 - 400 F4 - F5.6 Lens, however, the only difference was that the ISO was between 6000 k - 15000. Once I went through the menu and modified a lot of settings and watch my ISO, (100 - 500), my pictures are now noise free and tack sharp. I used to have Canon 5D Mark 3 and this SONY with the 42.2 MegaPixel is a HUGE learning curve. I thought the 100 - 400 lens was defective.

Also this camera + lens is too detailed, I photographed a bunny rabbit in my friend's front yard and noticed that the face had bloated ticks on her / him and one of the bunny's ears was partially ripped (a cat attack?)

I had eye AF on its eye (no idea why, I thought AF was only operational for humans, though I had a small green square on the cat's left eye) still was not sharp. That and the noise. I just purchased this camera (17th of March, 2018) at the time I photographed the cat and had no idea I was photographing in crop mode (as per the size of the Cat) until I went and tweaked a ton of the menu's settings. The Bunny was photographed 23rd of June, 2018. I usually do not post process, however, these images were over the 10 megabytes limit, so I had to scale them down employing a graphic programs, I have DXO PhotoLabs on my computer.

The cat shot is pretty impressive at that high ISO. How was it prior to PP.

The background was all digital noise (very grainy). All of those pictures taken that day were very high ISO even though it was sunny outside. DXO PhotoLabs apparently removed the noise as soon as I imported the picture to make it smaller to be used on photography-on-the.net. Three months later and lots of reading, I made sure the ISO was much lower. The ISO should not had been that high on a sunny day though that was at the 400 mm end as I found out later. On the 100 mm end it would had been much, much lower ISO. I also had a 1/1000s shutter speed, assuming I could not hold the large lens with a slower shutter speed which was false as per the 1/50s on the Bunny photograph. That 5.5 IBIS (In Body image stabilisation ), when the subject is still works wonders for very low shutter speed such as 1/50s. Could not had used this low speed without the IBIS.

these are directly from the RAW images, the DXO photoLab do not automatically correct these unless saved into another format, however, it modified the ARW photograph of the Cat picture I posted. You can see the noise in these pictures. Taken the same day in March with the Cat picture.

Had a great trip out west last month, and saw some really beautiful wildlife in my time out there. The 7rIII/100-400GM combo was excellent.

Excellent sharpness, really nice shot, Ken.

LD, or Mike
Often mistaken, but never in doubt.
