I can share my experience and decisions. You don't say enough about your intended uses for us to give advice.

I am very happy with Elinchrom. Best modifiers overall for my taste. They seem to have a crack design team. I standardized on the modifiers before buying my first Elinchrom strobe and adapted them.

I have the Ranger RX (the heavy 1100WS unit). I would love to have the new one :). This unit hits the performance level for competing with sunlight when needed. Sometimes the extra stop and a bit makes a difference. It is also very robust.

I have used the ELB 400 a decent bit. It has some good features. It is less strongly built, has lower power and requires an adapter to use with regular modifiers. None of these are deal-killers, as long as they don't create a battler for you. It is much lighter weight.

The problem is that the Godox 360 units provide similar performance levels in a much smaller and less expensive package. And the Godox flash bulb shape is superior, delivering light into modifiers more efficiently. And since you need an adapter to use either one with Elinchrom gear....

If I had the budget for the ELB 1200 units, the ELB 400 as companions using the Elinchrom wireless system might make more sense. But the system is not yet Fuji compatible and the adapter connection system with my existing Ranger makes it a crazy proposition. So until they support Fuji (my sources say "soon"), the jury is out for me.

C&C always welcomed...
On my images, of course, and on my words as well--as long as it's constructive :).

Thanks for the reviews and input. I currently have the following: one Flashpoint explor 600 two Streaklight 360's and two Godox V860 II.
For the most part what I have works fine. I shoot outdoors and love mixing ambient and strobe Im a one man show and was hoping to try and lighten my load and still carry my lighting. My thought was to go with one manufacturer for all of my lighting so everything plays well together and figured I would go with one of the more pro names and slowly grow into them. If that makes sense. Example when shooting with the Explore and the 360's I can't turn the units off remotely with the Godox x1 transmitter I need to walk to each 360 and turn it off if not needed for the shot. Me just being nit picky. The more I shoot the more I realize a good lighting system that plays well would be a hug plus and much more enjoyable. In a nut shell I want to over power the sun with as light a gear as I can.
The following shot was taken mid day as a example

Owned Elinchroms for 25 years. They work great. I still have and use them all. Never failed to flash.

I’ve got the Ranger RX AS Speed and replaced the heavy lead acid battery with Lithium. Not heavy anymore.

There’s a thread here with all the info you need to buy and replace. Simple task.

Happy I converted.

I get way more flashes even though I’ve never run either battery dry on a shoot.

Pics not showing up but it’s a red and black connector. Just match the colors. Simple.

So the ranger is 1100 watts correct? How heavy is your setup?

Yes, 1100 ws.
It’s around 5 pounds less. I think someone weighed it on the thread. To me, made it worthwhile carrying around a lot.

So how old is your ranger. I wouldn't mind an older version to get 1100ws. I'm concerned the 400elb's won't be strong enough to over power the sun with diffusion. My 600 explor already struggles. I can't afford the new 1200 elb's. Can you recommend anything. I have been working mainly at sync speeds and using a 3 stop nd

Ranger’s about a year and a half. The New ELB will drive the Ranger price down!!

If you get one, make sure you get the standard head. That’s the trick with the ranger.

I paid $999 for ranger and S head. Was a great deal. So watch for specials. They’re starting in places like Adorama.
