I've been using PS CS6. I have used LR4 but only a little, so I have no legacy LR catalogs. Since it seems like it will be problematic to continue with Adobe and stay desktop based rather than cloud, I am looking for alternative softwares. I mainly use DPP and Adobe camera raw to process raw files but am looking at Luminar. Previously, I had been using Extensis Portfolio but it has upgraded its niche, so I am also looking for a DAM. I will want Photoshop-like editing ability in addition to core photography needs of RAW development and DAM.
Does anyone know how Luminar's editing capabilities compare to PShop? As mentioned, I do want to stay LAN-based and am wondering if trying to stick with PS is even a viable choice. I read that Luminar itself can be used as a PS plug-in and will soon have its own DAM plug-in. If an upgradeable PS desktop app will survive, this might be a great combo. In fact, if the PS desktop app will be around and not hold back my Macs (updating OS to HS), perhaps all I need is a DAM.
Would Capture 1 be a better choice than Luminar in the above context?
Long shot, but might Photos plus AppleScript work as a DAM?
Thanks for any insights.
