All shot with 20D, 75-300mm EF USM III 4.0-5.6 @ 300mm & 5.6, 1/500, ISO 200. All shots are through the back netting. Comments/critiques are welcomed. Thank you.

I like these......nice action. I'm still having trouble getting the ball in my shots like this. Good timing on these.

As for the timing: I set the lens to manual focus and focus on the first base itself. Then, keeping the camera aimed at first base, with both eyes open, I watch for the action to start approaching. When it gets close, I hold the shutter button down and at 5 fps the camera does the rest.

The first base line: I did not notice how crooked it was! Perhaps someone had a few drinks before prepping the field.

Excellent tip! I think you'll get a bit more pop if you tweak curves and levels a bit then add unsharp mask during post processing.
