I have Sigma 85 Art 1.4, Sigma 135 1.8 Art, Tamron 90 macro IS, Canon 24-70 II 2.8, 70-200 II 2.8 and Tamron 15-30 2.8 IS. I shoot mostly wedding, portrait, and engagement.

I'm thinking of selling the Sigma 85 1.4 Art as the odd one out. I rarely shoot the 85 other than indoor portrait. I do like the 135 much more than 85. Better bokeh and focusing for me.

Haven't had too much experience with the 85 art but I do agree the 135 art is a very special lens...you def want to keep 24-70 and 70-200 obviously being staple wedding kit and you want UWA for those situations that requires it and macro for detail shots so yea I'd say the 85 as well...I actually lost my lust for the 85 (especially since the new canon 1.4 IS samples haven't been too exciting) because how awesome the 135 is

Thanks. I was definitely leaning that way. I don't shoot @ 1.4 as much as I thought I would be. Too thin of focus for portraits for me.

Well my opinion is that you're the best judge of what focal ranges you use. What might be appropriate for one person may not be appropriate for the next. Seems like you've already made up your mind and are looking for more affirmations: you're leaning towards the 85mm;-)a

Replace macro with extension tubes.

I generally prefer 135 over 85, but plenty of ways the 85 is useful. Your lack of use may be temporary.

How often do you shoot wider than 24mm? I'd be inclined to drop that Tammy...

I like the extension tubes for the 90 idea.

I do use the Tamron 15-30. I shoot at 15mm alot. I do landscape and environmental portraits with it. It is also very good for astrophotography too

My .02

If it was me I would sell the 85 1.4 and the Tamron 90, but not because they are not good, they are both excellent lenses.
I would then get a 100mm 2.8L IS
Mainly to have in the bag a good (inner focusing like your Tamron) macro with portrait ability. And having IS with excellent contrast and color rendition as a bonus :-)

Question: Can the bokeh on the 85 1.4 get "unpleasant" as it's rumored to be? There are pictures of both excellent and not so nice bokeh out there as examples.
Or maybe it's an overblown condition like light bleed on a laptop screen that you can only notice for 2 seconds on start up?

Thanks I'm leaning towards letting go 85 1.4. I have use the 85 1.2 L and found the bokeh to be very comparable to Sigma. But I don't shoot at 1.4. I really don't like shooting at 1.4 for portrait that much.

I'm exploring macro tube and see if I can replace that.

I picked up a set of fotodiox tubes from B&H for $50. You could pay more for Kenko tubes or worse yet Canon but the results aren’t going to be any better and the fotodiox tubes are plenty sturdy on the build quality side.

85mm would be beneficial indoors if space is of a concern....
do reconsider....

70-200 covers that, and is great for portraits.
