The right eye is quite out of focus. The left eye is also soft. It looks like the left cheek and beard there got the focus. Using f/2.8 might have been ill-advised in this setting.

I just saw one of your other photos on the "background surprise" feed.

You seem to be having a focus issue that could be because of the large aperture or your lens could be miscalibrated. Man, it sucks that you have such a great subject but just the blurriness on the eyes throws it off. I would maybe post another feed asking for help on the focusing from much more experiences photographers than I.

I'm not entirely sure focus is the issue here. The far bigger issue is the blown highlights on the lips, cheek, and forehead. My guess is that in an effort to add drama to the shot, it got a little over processes. One tail tail sign is the bokeh in the back has gone hard with too much contrast. Try reprocessing this with a little more delicate hand and see how it works. Everything is just so hard, your don't see the eyes anymore.

Interesting capture.... just a little more finesse in processing.
