Canon’s website says it should be located at the bottom. Maybe the previous owner peeled off the label? Was it a hot item-?

The plate is blank. There is no #. I don't understand this. Is there another place it could be. I don't have a box just the camera.

For DSLRs, the serial number is printed on the silver area of the Canon label at the bottom of the camera. Look at the link, as it shows how it should be on the 7D: there's a spot that's slightly recessed (it has two notches on the right, but is otherwise rectangular). Do you see that recessed area? If the entire sticker is missing, then maybe it was peeled off. You can try contacting the seller to see if they have the serial number. Or if you're looking for 7D software specifically, maybe you can find someone with a 7D that is willing to share their serial number or software install.

DPP and Lightroom will tell you what the serial number is, as I suspect will most other photo-editing software.

Thank you so much. This is what I was looking for
