first Ha solar image

hi guys and gals

OK finally starting to figure out how to use all this new software and hardware for viewing and imaging the sun
finally a first decent image of a prominence today 2017/11/14
gear - Lunt LS60THa solar telescope, ZWO178MC camera and SharpCap software

trying to image in daytime is a real challenge ... dealing with daytime glare on a laptop screen etc
this is a single image capture

just a quick pic of the setup
laptop inside cardboard box for some shielding of the screen from the sunlight
I needed to stick my head into the box up close to the screen to stop the sunlight
reflections off me getting onto the screen ....

Recently shooting the eclipse I found that spraying the inside of the box a flat black helps reduce the glare quite a bit and increases the contrast making it easier to see the screen.

Very cool, and yeah, I also found shooting the eclipse trying, due to glare.

looking forward to getting a better handle on the gear and software and get to where I am
stacking frames from video clips and produce sharper images @MalVeauX has been a big
inspiration for me with an excellent processing video that he made

brilliant !, hadn't thought of that, someone elsewhere commented about using a cloth shroud over the box
and my head .... to cut out the extraneous light ... think photographers of old

I used the towel over head and box technique during the eclipse!
