I have a Canon 80D and take lots of photographs of scale plastic models. These need close up photography so I shoot uptown 8 images and then use Helican Focus to marge them.

I use the LCD screen to take the photos so that I can set the focus point by touching the screen. I normally have the camera set to take the shot from the tap. However, the menu for this item defaults to disabled and when I change it, the setting only holds for the current session with it reverting to disabled when I turn the camera on again.

The setting is on Camera Menu 5 - Touch Shutter Disable/Enable.

Is there some way that I can make the camera remember this setting?

David

Have you tried saving the setting to one of the custom settings C1 C2?

The problem IS that OP has the camera in either C1 or C2. Put it to a real mode (Av, Tv, M, P) and it will remember your changes.

Or go to YELLOW WRENCH menus. Select PAGE 4. Select CUSTOM SHOOTING MODE (C1, C2). The third choice down is AUTO UPDATE SET. Change it to ENABLE. The camera will now accept changes, even if you are in C1 or C2 mode.

Ah. I did read all through the manual but must have missed that. I will have a go tomorrow and let you know how I get on.
