One entirely unrelated thing that I am curious about -

@Lbsimon > LightRoom 6.1 Import Too Slow> Since fairly recently the import of files from the SD card to the LightRoom 6.1 became unbearably slow....And finally, I work with the raw files created by the 5D4.

Since you have a 5D4, why are you still running LR 6.1? Preliminary support for the 5D4 was in 6.7, fuller support in 6.8 and the current version is 6.13. And how are you importing to 6.1 which would not accept 5D4 Raws? Or is that just a recurring typo in both title and text?

That is interesting as well.

Thanks for the info, guys. I am busy tonight, so sorting all this out will be a project for the Thanksgiving weekend. I will report on the results after that.

Personally I do not like Lightroom and the way it "imports". It reminds me of Adobe Bridge which I find unusable due to poor and s-l-o-w... performance. Also seems like adobe is trying to get people to get trained to put stuff on the "cloud"/adobe servers.

I just look at stuff in my windows viewer then open what I want in PS tru windows file browser=fast. Not sure if you can do that with LR I uninstalled mine.

A few things I did based on that optimize performance link. I stored my catalogue and images on an external drive

- I decided to move the Lightroom Folder with Catalogue back to the hard drive

- I moved the Cashes folder to the Lightroom folder on the hard drive

Create import preset with rendering size you want and it will not change. For instance, I have presets for wildlife, sports and general photography, which are in different catalogs (i.e wildlife, sports, general). When I import, it imports the exact same way each time with no changes. Predictable.
