Recent family session I did. I am still kicking myself for not closing my aperture more on the group shot, so everyone was in sharp focus.

I don't know that I'd kick myself too hard. I looked at this one on your flickr......the boy's a tiny bit soft, but it still looks good.

Just need to keep in mind how wide aperture, focal length and distance relate.

I think these look very good overall.

I agree with the poster above, but and I am a student of photography myself, would you have been able to get everyone in focus had you focused on the girl or boy even with the same settings?

I thought I read that when doing rows of people in group shots, to focus on the front row.

Were you shooting under an umbrella, centered above the camera?
