I thought a flan was flat?
But it looks good and I wouldn't mind a bite...

Levina.. Flan is a type of custard, so often prepared in custard dishes (which would fit the shape in John's photo) .. but it could be any shape. It tastes just as good :p

We start eating them in the weeks leading up to Christmas and usually there are enough to last into January. :-)

...

We call it Crème Caramel over here. Not difficult to make, yummy!

Very nice!

Unfortunately my wife hates flan, it's one of the very few things she refuses to make or eat.

Ah okay. I thought they were maybe like our vegetable quiches but then a sweet version of it. But looking at the recipe it sounds more like our "custard pudding".

The worktop borders immediately onto the window giving out onto the unkempt garden with its sparrows and the occasional robin.

While I admire the expert lighting (with or without ironing boards) displayed here, I always shied away from the effort and learning curve.

That looks so tasty, Don.
And I love coconut!

I've been playing with the 100mm lens and a spoon full of sugar.

Another fine detailed study. You must have a good ironing board. ;-)a

No food pictures from me yet. It was too dark and cloudy until this morning, when, in a rare alignment of real events with the WWPW theme of the week, I noticed a flower stalk on my potted sansevieria. This plant has bloomed about once every 20 years. Its flowers secrete copious amounts of extremely sweet nectar. Whatever creature is drawn to the drops in nature must have the biggest sweet tooth (more likely, proboscis) in the animal kingdom.

A lower part of the stalk, showing plenty of liquid even though the flowers are only at the budding stage.
