Another fine detailed study. You must have a good ironing board. ;-)a

Actually, I used a small table this time. I covered it with a some black cloth and put a sheet of transparant glass on that. I took quite a number of shots to get it right. The DOF is so shallow with the 100mm and I'm struggling with it. I stacked a few images for the above photo. Glad you liked it. Thanks.

Thanks also for the Likes.

No food pictures from me yet. It was too dark and cloudy until this morning, when, in a rare alignment of real events with the WWPW theme of the week, I noticed a flower stalk on my potted sansevieria. This plant has bloomed about once every 20 years. Its flowers secrete copious amounts of extremely sweet nectar. Whatever creature is drawn to the drops in nature must have the biggest sweet tooth (more likely, proboscis) in the animal kingdom.

A lower part of the stalk, showing plenty of liquid even though the flowers are only at the budding stage.

A great find, OhLook. I like the second one especially. Very well timed by the plant!

That looks so tasty, Don.
And I love coconut!

I've been playing with the 100mm lens and a spoon full of sugar.

Nice square crystals, Levina.. Very pretty in B/W

I've never tried photo stacking, but I'm guessing that the rail would be so helpful.. :p

Yes, a rail is definitely in the plans, Jo. To do it manually with the 100mm is just about impossible. But what a great lens it is. The spoon above is tiny, smaller than a tea spoon.

Yeah, it is, isn't it? :-P

Still, I wanted for all the sugar to be in focus but somehow I failed doing that each time I tried. Photoshop was no help either. It kept doing it wrong, giving me images with blurry parts, smudges etc. All part of the learning process and having a lot of fun with that!

Nothing new in this thread today, so I'll post what I got yesterday just to give participants something to look at. In the summer, these grapes were progressing toward sweetness. I don't know how far they got (they're not in my yard), but the season here was too short for them to develop fully.

That explains it.

Ah okay. I thought they were maybe like our vegetable quiches but then a sweet version of it. But looking at the recipe it sounds more like our "custard pudding".

I’d call it a flan, that exact shape is a very popular dish in Spain, creme caramel is flat with a crusty (burned sugar) top; flan is soft. I have seen youths having a competition to “inhale” flans, gross thing to do to such a tasty dish.

Crème caramel, flan, or caramel pudding is a custard dessert with a layer of soft caramel on top, (which is actually the bottom) as opposed to crème brûlée, which is pudding with a hard caramel top. The dish is eaten throughout the world.

Wikipedia

Flan can actually come in many flavors
The base being custard :-)

A nice cheerful shot. The unusual aspect works well for this subject. One carp: I would have liked a more neutral color for the background.
