I was over the moon with the subscription, just bought a new camera, wasn't supported on my old version, couldn't afford the new one, bang, subscription! If you intend updating your gear regularly, then subscription is the way to go surely, works out cheaper...

Only if you are both a Lightroom and Photoshop user. For those of us who only use Lightroom, the subscription model is more expensive than paying $80 every 2-3 years for an upgrade to the LR perpetual license.

Well good for you rich boy. But I pay the bills, save, then use anything left over to take some photos of the kids. I use a 7D I bought used in 2013 and mostly non-canon lenses from ebay. I drink beer at home and wine in a box, and we usually get takeout. I don't spend money on **** I don't need for no good reason.

The topic is alternatives to Lightroom. You coming in and bragging how much you spend on dinners and your latest L lenses is totally unhelpful and borderline trolling. Even showing off your photo that has nothing to do with the qualities or lack thereof of the software we're discussing? Wtf?

I'm not rich. So I have boat and a snowmobile. One is 22 years old and and the other is 17. I have wanted a 500L or 400 DO II for years. I'm retired and there is only so much every month and it has to last my wife who will outlive me.

Since you seem to be slightly insulting maybe you should not have have had kids so stop whining. I put my time in and I have $120 a year for my hobby.

Because I'm such a nice person I thought I'd help you out. For some $10 a month is outrages even if they can afford it. That is fine. Each to his/her own. If you can't find $10 a month for yourself for your hobby then you should probably get a better financial planner or watch this show ;-)a

Again, good for you. But how well you can afford LR contribute nothing to a discussion we have here about alternatives to LR! Whatever the reason we have for switching. You come in just to brag how you can afford it and many other things, and why it's no big deal to you. Contributing nothing, that's insulting.

Too bad this is not about affordability with your near new PC. It is about you not wanting to pay $10 for a slow piece of junk.

By the way I'm not only one who has been discussing LR here so maybe you should tell them they are insulting you as well.

There is a lot of false information about LR out there. They added new build preview options to speed up importing. Most people that have complained about LR have system issues of just did not set things up properly. There plenty saying it runs great. Maybe someone is interested and gets the wrong feedback.

So I'm going to end this because it is not right for place. I don't care what you or anyone else uses and I can post links to where I have said that.
