Another option is a WD - EasyStore 8TB External USB 3.0 Hard Drive for $149 from BestBuy https://www.bestbuy.com …k/5792401.p?skuId=5792401 (external link) with this sale you will also receive a $20 off coupon at Shutterfly.com - good for a free 8x8, 20 page, photobook.
Just a side note, these drives are known to have a WD Red drives inside aka NAS drives, which is really a good deal :)

WD makes you reformat for MAC whereas the Seagate lets you go back and forth between the two without formatting. That's big for people like me who edit on a IMac but use desktops for web/social media etc.

My use for these WD drives is simply to take out the HDDs and use them in my NAS. This is where WD wins as this drives are NAS rated. Same drive, but bare, costs currently $274 at B&H: https://www.bhphotovideo.com …fzx_8tb_red_5400_rpm.html (external link) As you can see, you can have 2 drives in price of 1.

Interesting that you work on two different computers/platforms. Why not use just one system for all your computer needs? Why can't you edit on PC? Why can't you do web/social media on the iMac?

I went iMac for editing but I have an old pc laptop for the internet. I think macbooks are ridiculously overpriced for tiny screens with no 10key pad but I really like the 27" screen for editing.

Honestly, when my laptop eventually craps out I'm not sure what I'll replace it with.
