/rant, I will NEVER understand how video aspect ratios managed to become dominant on computer workstation monitors. It is really not at all productive!

After some serious concern, I finally got my 27" up and running. (had to go into the monitors on screen menus to tell it to use the correct input! I thought it was dead for a long time!)

I had the same issue when first attempting to setup my new Dell monitor -- had to set it to the proper input. The menus on the display were a little clunky to select the input, too.

I was surprised to see how well the monitor was calibrated from the factory. I know that Dell advertises the monitor as being professionally calibrated and includes the calibration results with the monitor, but I still never trust such things. After calibrating the monitor with my Spyder 3 utility, the results were only slightly different than Dell's calibration. My previous Samsung monitor was way off before calibrating with the Spyder tool.

Likewise, it's in very good shape. I haven't gotten around to doing a calibration, but it really looks good to me other than some brightness/contrast tweeks.
