I applied for a job and they are asking for a PDF portfolio.

I made one in photoshop and it looks god awful quality.

I'm wondering how I can do this and still maintain my high res HQ files?

Apparently websites and anything online is not allowed so I'm stuck trying to melt all of my photos down into a PDF.

I did all different sizes since some of my newer images are much bigger but they all show up as different sizes.

I melted them down to 1000px on the long end in LR then made one and it all looks super soft as well.

Confused on how to actually make this happen

thanks in advance

When you create a new file in PS it will have a "resolution" setting under the size. You probably want this about 300, that will give enough for the web and print but still be manageable for sending.

No, he means when you CREATE the PS file... not when outputting to PDF.
Make sure the PS file is full res 300dpi. You can then output to whatever res you wish.

Do you have a full version of Acrobat? With that you can import individual images onto multiple pages and save as a single file.

In PS if you make a 300 res file if you drag massive images into it you can just resize them with the transform tool to fit the page. You might have to zoom way out to resize the large images because they might be bigger then your PS file.

When you save the PS file the file will be 300 res no matter how much data you shove into it.

If you have LR you can use the Print Module and create your layout and print to a PDF.
