It is just a code that identifies the transmitter to the flash that is sent whenever the transmitter sends a signal to the flash. It enables two or more flashes from different users to use the same channel where the proper transmitters only trigger the proper receivers. It does not eliminate interference totally but it will eliminate almost 100% of flashes caused by interference from other units on the same channel.

The units can still interfere with each other if the signals are sent simultaneous. Two mixed signals may cause the flashes not to fire at all. The code is mainly there to stop someone else's transmitter from operating your flash, either changing the settings or firing the flash. In most cases just changing the channel number will be enough. The addition of codes is mainly for an event where many photographers may be present and the photographer wants more protection from false flashes than just using different channels will provide.

Right. In simple terms--with the Tx and Rx on the same channel, now we can set addition ID, like Tx with ID "05", all Rxs also need to set to 05 to communicate.

From what I am finding out, you will need the xPro to utilize the ID, since the X1-T doesn't (yet?) have that available.
It's pretty easy to set up with my xPro. I used the ID's previously on my Phottix system. An added layer of protection from someone triggering your flash. I'm glad it made it to the AD200's.

It's basically so that you don't have to pay for PocketWizard custom IDs any more, if you're going to shoot at the Olympics.

As everyone else has explained, it's a way of turning 32 radio channels into 3168 "virtual" channels (code 00= ID codes off, so it's 32 RF channels x 99 ID codes), so if someone else nearby is using the same Godox triggers on the same channel, the chances of them popping your lights goes way down.

But, as has also been noted, you have to have (at this time) an XPro transmitter, and firmware-upgradeable Godox X strobes to use the feature. I can use ID codes with my XPro-C and my TT685C, but not my TT600 speedlights (the same would hold for V850II speedlights), since they don't have any firmware upgrade capability. To work, the ID code capability has to be on both sides of the RF signal: both the transmitter and the receivers.

The TT685, V860II, AD360II, AD600/AD600M firmware updates went out on the 1st of December.

No idea if the TT350 mini-flashes are going to get an update for this, too. They haven't received updates for any of the fixes that have gone out on the X1T units.

With PocketWizard you get a personal id for PW equipment. On the Olympics you are the only one with that personal id.

This is not the the case with the id that Godox uses. it is free but you ate not the only one to be able to use that id.

USB with micro B end for light.

Make sure its a cable intended for data transfer.

To elaborate a little farther, use the micro USB port near the power switch on the AD200; not the USB A port under the rubber cover; that's for plugging in an FTR16 receiver if you want to use the older 433 MHz triggering system.

Thanks for the heads up, completely missed that port.

I checked out the Godox link but the only ad200 update I could see was related to Pentax x system.
What am I missing?

You are missing the previous updates as this thread is a year old. Just update to the latest, you will get previous updates as well.
