Sorry if this is on the wrong forum, but was just wondering if anyone know the cost to replace the shutter on a 5D MkII? Just trying to get an idea of what to expect. Thanks!

Thinking I'll just take it to my local canon repair facility. (There's one near me)

About two years ago I was seeing prices of about $400 to $500. There is some discussion at https://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/40829083 (external link) but keep in mind it was from 5 years ago. The United Camera the thread refers to is at http://www.unitedcamera.com/store/item.aspx?ItemId=133 (external link). I've used them and they were reputable. Note that the price ($!98) at the link I gave does not refer to a shutter replacement, but addresses the following issues.

Shutter / mirror in mirror box is stuck.
Shutter blades / aperture are damaged.
Shutter blades / aperture out of alignment.
Mirror box problems.
Pictures are underexposed / dark.
Pictures are overexposed / bright.

Ok, so just to update, I took it to Canon Repair in Costa Mesa CA and it wasn't my shutter that was the problem, it was the Mirror Box. They did a count on the shutter and it had 427,000 clicks. They say the shutter should last to about 150,000 clicks, so I just had them replace the shutter as well as I felt it be going soon anyway. Total cost to fix the mirror box and new shutter was $457.00
