I got a smallrig cage for my Sony A6300 with a handle, an A&J mini slider, and a Play-pod ultra... So what did you score??

I was thinking about starting this same thread, but mainly wondering if we picked up any new members who just got their first DSLR for Christmas? Love to see threads from newcomers and see how quickly people advance, I've only been here a year but am definitely learning a lot.

I didn't get anything photography related for Christmas but I did buy myself a Google Pixel 2 XL smartphone just before Christmas partly for it's great camera. My fiancee and family know not to buy me photography gear, 1 because it's so expensive, and 2 because it's something the photographer should really choose for themselves.

If I needed gear, I don't need to wait for Santa to bring them to me....when my shooting season was over, I managed to readjust my gear line up...sold some older gear and replacing them with something newer....

All of these were purchased within 2 months ago...

Tamron 45 f1.8
Tokina 11-20 f2.8

Nikon N80

Hoya HD CPL 82mm
Haida 10 stop ND filter 82mm

Yongnuo 622n tx
Yongnuo 685ex Nikon.

I think I am done buying or upgrading until the end of next year....:) My next upgrade would be the Tamron 70-200 vc G2.

Haida Pro ND filters. They cast the minimal color cast. Very easy to clean. The back side isn't coated, only the front. The price is reasonable. BW is too expensive and it does the same thing as the Haida and not better. Not a fan of Hoya consumer grade filters. Their pro filters are good but still expensive....

Nothing.

Santa brought me the same thing he does every year - a big, black, dusty lump of coal. I threw it in the woodburner and ate his cookies. Me and Santa don't see eye to eye about much of anything.

The highlight of my Christmas was getting to work a 12-hour shift at the hospital, and managing problems I'd never seen before. I learned a bunch of new stuff, and got to work with a nurse who only picks up a shift now and again. I'm looking forward to my 12-hour shift on NYE, too! It's nice to love your job.

Santa (me) sold the Nikon Pocket Wizard I got when I purchased a set of strobes and bought two good X1 wireless triggers and had some $$ left over for a rain cover for my camera. :)
Belated Santa may pick up a TT Digital Holster bag. ;)
I can empathize with the hospital shift - while I wasn't on call over Christmas, I will be on call for surgery over New Years for our furry four legged friends...

I have a photographic memory, just wish I'd remember to take the lens cap off more often!
