Yes, the Galloway hills are worth more attention than the more crowded Munros further north. Thanks for restoring happy memories.
Somewhere up there is a loch in a loch (a lochan on an island in a loch). Have you seen it?
Loch Enoch's got something like that but I didn't get a good look at it this time around. I'll definitely be going back to sample more of the hills; I figured they'd all be like The Merrick - smooth, grass-covered and largely featureless - but I was very pleasantly surprised. It's going to a take a few days for my boots to dry out though
