Could there be a difference between the AD600E and the AD600B ? With the E it feels as if Godox tried to replicate Elinchrom's built in reflector, without maybe understanding how the flash tube design difference could possibly make that a bad idea.

Most likely as the non E lacks the reflector behind the tube. Still the tube design of the old AD600e and omega shaped will create a difference, how much and to what significance can be argued of course.

Not entirely correct, the AD600E which I tested and is used in the comparison have a small reflector behind the tube as well. ;-)a

True, I didn't think to include that as I don't expect many people to even come across them.

I wonder if they'd made a good copy if it would help with the hot spot? Probably not with that tube.

Color stability numbers are in. If the goal is to stay as close to 5600K possible, the XplorPro seems to work admirably. Late this week I'll have some time with Profoto studio strobes after a shoot and will get to test them to see how they behave in comparison.

Using the C700, in standard mode, the biggest delta I could find across 10+ pops at every full stop power setting was +212K, or -32K, for a total maximum of 244K.

In Color mode, the biggest delta I could find across 10+ pops at every full stop power setting was +109K, or -71K, a total max of 180K.

Within a given power setting the biggest delta I found was 96K (5709K vs. 5613K at 1/4 power). In general, color mode kept things tight, about 30-50K within a given power setting with each pop.

I'll publish the numbers as part of an upcoming XplorPro review at Adorama's ALC.
