The Jacobite runs from Fort William to Mallaig, and goes accross several viaducts including the famous Glenfinnan. Well worth the road trip, and cost of the train ticket, IMO. Hearing the chug of the steam, and the smell of the coal smoke filling the compartment, like I was a kid again.

I'm sure its been posted before, but it's a beautiful location. The first 5 are of or around Glenfinnan

Yeah we were blessed with good weather in Scotland. We were in Scotland for 8 days total and it only rained 2 of those days (all day mind you). Which the locals said is very good weather. It did rain the day we rode the Jacobite, but that meant it was a good day to be "inside" a train. We were there near the end of September.

Agreed, and I have to say the staff on the train were great too. My advice to anyone who may want to go; Book in advance, as we booked 2 months before and we got the last 2 seats. I would ride it again if I ever find my way in Fort William again, and I just might because it is a really great area, highly recommended.
