Urban Performers, Street Musicians -- Photos?

Good to see the old traditions surviving into the 21st Century Ray!

Well; not such an old tradition, Pippan, but sometimes new additions to an old routine add value to our new enlightened and liberated kingdom.

They gave a number of superb entertaining performances.
The uninitiated might say - Ah; What is a Morris Dance?
Well, to start with the participants (ladies or gentlemen) have to be extremely fit and able to down a few pints of liquid coolant - usually real ale - of which there is usually plenty available at such events.

In 4 simple pictures I give you my interpretation of the choreography - apologies if I missed something.

1 - They all line up up waiting for the lady with the squeeze box to start the music and bring them into action -

3 - The music reaches a crescendo - they give a final leap into the air - let out a Whoop! And the audience cheers loudly!

It was a shame but I seemed to miss their performance!

Thank you very much, Richard. I am liking this new R7 it’s smaller and lighter than the 7D II, although my bag doesn’t seem to get any lighter

Everyone's been going on about how good the British are at pomp and ceremony and these photos prove it! I assume they were rehearsing for the big ceremony that's happening right now?

We have always been good at pomp and ceremony, there’s nowt quite like it, especially now as it’s in resplendent colour as opposed the black and white transmissions of the 1953 coronation.
Just imagine for the 1953 coronation a very few photographers might have been using a 35mm Leica IIB if they were lucky - or a 120 Brownie box.

This time in 1953 we were watching the Queen’s coronation on a big black and white tv at a posh friend’s house, the screen was small and lacked contrast - but it was state-of-the-art. Every now and again the picture would lose sync due to an unstable timebase and have to be switched off and on again. (For the technically minded the timebase was a Mazda gass-filled thyratron T41.)

I did think of going into town (London) this morning but decided not to. Anyway, it’s typical English weather and raining and, as you know, the R7 is not water repellent.

I would have loved to have got a few shots as I soaked up the atmosphere - or the atmosphere soaked me up. Hopefully we may have one or two members living within walking distance who will post some great shots. I suppose you are off to a ‘down under’ street party now?

Yes, yes, we're all standing around drinking red wine and repeatedly pledging our allegiance to the King of Australia and the lovely Queen Camilla. God save the King. I think we should bring that back as our national anthem.
