He posed for my 1st test of my newly received Canon 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II lens which I'm very pleased with.

Great shot! IMO the 70-200mm (in all its variations) is the perfect focal range for pet portraits of all types. I use mine on both full frame and crop DSLR cameras...
