5D MkII battery holder shutter button

I have a 5DMKII battery holder grip that the shutter button works half way. It will trip the shutter but won't focus till the shutter trips. The partial button depress for focus doesn't work. Anyone know what it might cost to repair and who might do it?

First make sure the grip is fastened correctly.
I've noticed that from time to time the grip gets undocked with loss of contact.
The results are just like you discribed.

Is it a Canon OEM BG-E6 battery grip... or a third party (such as Vello, etc.)? I've heard of some problems with non-OEM grips.

Do you have back button focusing set up?

Guys I fixed it. I took the 4 screws out of the part that goes up in the camera and sprayed a contact cleaner on the back of the switch for the button. Bingo, now works great. It is a like new Canon grip battery holder, don't know why it was bad. I don't have the back focus button setup, do you think that would matter? It is a BG-E6.
