Shooting white on white

I know you already decided to hire someone to do it, but below is my setup that works for white on white. The object is suspended on plexiglas in front/over a whiteish background. The background is lit to ensure I get clipping.

I am good with my travel & portrait but can't do products at all. If I can do one thing should I always be good at everything or does it vary?

There is a local photography studio down the road from me so going there to get the photos taken.

Different types of photography involve different skills...portraiture vs. events vs. sports.
Different subtypes of (product) photography involve different skills...textile and fashion vs. industrial products vs. glassware and chrome vs. automobiles vs. food

Unless you work under someone with experience in a specific genre to acquire some of their accumulated knowledge, the skills to do a good job do NOT necessarily come easily.
The apprenticeship of old has disappeared with the impatience of youth, which is why finding someone who can lay tile counter in a kitchen or bathroom WHICH WILL LAST is not easy to find...we have seen more than one inferior tile job beginning to come apart after a few years.
