A few weeks ago Southern Ontario and most of Canada was hit with a cold wave (between -20 to -30 degrees Celcius), which did something very incredible for photography. Many of the waterfalls in the country froze over, and this became every photographer's wet dream.

Hamilton is known as the waterfall capital of the world, with about 100 different waterfalls.

Living in Toronto, close enough to Hamilton I decided to grab a couple friends, and we embarked on an adventure to explore some frozen waterfalls in Hamilton, and in the surrounding area.

I'll be the first one to say, what we saw was pretty amazing!

I have more pictures and I wrote more about my epic adventure finding frozen waterfalls in Hamilton and Niagara (external link) on my blog for anyone who is interested in reading about it!

Cheers,
Tudor

Literally cool photos!
I'm familiar with all of these locations and perhaps a family road trip is on order to check out the waterfalls before spring!

Great that you were able to get these photos. I visited the CN Tower at that time and remember seeing Lake Ontario frozen over.

I see some people walking on the frozen surface of water in one picture. Brave!

Oh, wow.

Thanks for the dramatic reminder of what we are missing here in Southern Arizona.
