Monitor Calibration Help

I’m trying to optimize my room for photo editing the best I can. I have figured out a way to block out all light temporarily for editing photos…

My questions are
1. What kind of light should I get for ambient light while Photo editing?

I will keep this light in the same spot so every time I edit photos the light hasn’t changed and the calibration will be the same. I’ve heard about special lights for for editing but I’m not sure which one to purchase

2. Can I calibrate my monitor with this calibration tool effectively? Do you know any good tips for calibrating? I wish there was a tech support number that you could call and they would step you through it. It’s a little bit of a confusing process

Question, I just got this same monitor. I am confused on the calibration. Do i use the datacolor software or ben q and data color hardware?

The shading hood that appears to be included with your monitor is a nice feature. That should go a long way to keeping your colors true and consistent. I end up building one for mine using black matte or poster board to keep stray light off the screen. I don't do any sort of hardware calibration for my monitor but still manage to get decent color matching with my own inkjet prints.

I'm sure there are better choices but I use a small, halogen goose-neck task lamp clamped to the edge of a shelf above my desk. It's slightly warmer than daylight (3500k?) and works well for me to judge how my prints come out. I've looked at replacing it with an LED lamp of some sort but they all seem to skew towards a bluer, colder color temp.
