There's been a few misty mornings recently providing the opportunity for some interesting landscape shots where I live. Show me your best landscape photographs that have a minimalist or abstract feel about them.

The challenge begins when posted, and will end on Sunday, Feb 11th, 2018 at 12PM GMT. The winner will be announced shortly thereafter.

CHALLENGE RULES:
1. Camera: Any DIGITAL CAMERA is allowed, (not just DSLR)
2. Time: Any on-topic photo taken at any time is eligible, although photos that have won other competitions should NOT be entered.
3. Size: See standard P.O.T.N. Image Posting Rules.
4. Post Processing: Do whatever you like and the host will decide if it works.
5. Posting: ONE PHOTO per photographer in each challenge.
6. Details: Show camera model & lens used. Post brief EXIF data including ISO, shutter speed and aperture used.
7. Commenting: Please, NO COMMENTING DURING CHALLENGE feel free to comment in this thread after a winner is declared.
8. Content: Keep it clean, and both Family and Work safe.
9. Have questions? PM me.
10. Have FUN!

* THE WINNER ALWAYS SETS THE THEME FOR THE NEXT CHALLENGE, POSTS IT AND JUDGES IT - BE PREPARED! A new challenge should be posted ASAP after you have been declared the winner.

I was worried for the first few days that there weren't going to be any entries and then we got loads of excellent photos within a day or two of each other! Judging was genuinely tougher than I thought it would be but here are my thoughts:

OldCrow: Really like the atmosphere in this photo and it makes me feel like I'm stood on top of a huge drop below.

Teekay: I like the horizontal banding in this one and the glass-like look of the water. Almost looks frozen!

M_Six: Great silhouette image with a really nice backdrop and perfect composition.

darkslinger: I love the tones of grey you've captured in this shot with the water and horizon barely separated. Again, great composition and atmosphere!

Tom Reichner: There's something about a good telephoto landscape that really appeals to me. Really nice colour throughout the image and the multiple bands of dark and light have been used to great effect.

Scatterbrained: Great use of colour in this photo. Are the rocks in the foreground overhanging the water? I thought they were in it at first but there is a crisp line separating them from the blurred water. Very interesting!

Paul B: Nice shot of a great looking location, really reminds me of a beach very near me in the UK. The orange of the sand and blue of the sky go really well together.

RESULTS:

Winner - darkslinger
Second - Tom Reichner
Third - M_Six

Well done and thanks to all, seven great images for me to judge!

kept seeing things i wanted to shoot but weather causing delays getting home, or heading someplace with long travel time precluded me stopping and shooting...

i went through the images and they were judged the same way i would have done them. although i was looking at them all week long trying to decide which way to go...

glad it wasnt MY topic to judge...

whats up next?
