Why are you doing this to me? :D

MFT...for me? I dunno. Convince me since you are working with the R and still convinced MFT is OK.

My issue is high ISO. Is the tiny sensor worth a darn? What happens when I am in Africa in those low light situations both early morning and large afternoon? I did fine wirth my 80D and Canon 100-400 II...but still wondering. Ugh.

That kitty shot is indoors at 6400 with no flash, no real NR in post.

This one was at 10000 (forum displays only full stops so reports 12800). Outdoors in shade, through a double pane window

Low light, on an African photo safari? No, I would not rely on it for once in a lifetime type shots. It absolutely won’t replace my R, but it certainly compliments a full size FF system.

I’d say for general everyday use when light isn’t an issue, I would say it is 90% as good as the R for shots to be looked at online. If I was going to do an important shot with the intent of a large print, or absolutely needed the shallowest DOF possible for subject separation, I’d probably still go with the R.

For walkaround stuff where the benefits of FF aren’t a deal breaker, MFT wins hands down.

For comparison - one is 20mp 70-200mm (effective) f/2.8 the other is 30mp 70-200mm f/2.8

Here one is 24-105mm f/4, the other 24-120mm (effective) f/2.8-4

I am seriously considering selling my 80D and 100-400mm II. If I ever get to Africa, it will be with the R and a rented BIG L Prime

My wife and Father planted over 300 Daffodils, I noticed this morning that the past couple days of nice sunny weather are causing them to start to bloom.

Last Friday...

I wouldn’t call it “tiny”. Yes, by surface area MFT is 50% of full frame, where the 80D is 63% of FF. MFT is 80% of APS-C by surface area and with a 20mp sensor is 83% and 67% of APS-C/FF respectively by pixel count.

Still gives room to crop as well (again if you aren’t planning on large prints)

Like scottnz noted, it is always a question of trade offs or pros/cons of the different systems. With my varied interests a single system doesn’t work well/satisfy me. Being able to have both though is the beez kneez!

For travel/cityscapes, posed photos the ibis in th3se cameras is do good that evem with my shaky hands im always amazed at the way i can keep my iso in the safe range for m43

There used to be a thr3ad for all m43 of all cameras images since it such a small group here mayb3 I will look for it and try to revive it

Adorama has body with 12-60mm f/2.8-4 lens combo and a bunch of extra goodies for $1897 now..... jus’ sayin’ ;-)a

I am looking forward to giving the G9 a good test on BIF, I also have an 80D (along with my R) that’s only purpose at this point is action with benefit of APS-C crop. If the G9 can handle the tracking of birds and other go fast things, I will sell off the 80D and probably my EF 100-400mm L II lens as they will become total overlap and have just a singular purpose.

Speaking of moving subjects (like birds and animals), what is FPS rating for the G9 with continuous AF? That is one thing that turned me off with the R that the continuous AF dropped to 3 FPS.

From DPReview...

”The camera is capable of shooting bursts at 20 fps with continuous autofocus using its electronic shutter (9 fps with mechanical) and 60 fps with single AF (12 fps with mechanical). The buffer allows for up to 50 Raw images to be captured in a single burst.”
