This one should work in NZ https://www.tvnz.co.nz …ew-zealand/episodes/s2-e4 (external link)

Yes it works - thanks.

Unfortunately we can't go around the coast to the cape at the moment because of several large slips, and a few months ago a couple of tourists were injured.

It was on my list of things to do during my holidays in Feb/March. I was really disappointed, as had my eye on some long exposures at Black Reef. Can still get to e gannets, the main colony, on the top, via the Overland trip, which I must do some time.

Weather not conducive to autumn leaf shots, although subjects were there. Use the lens as a prime instead, and really enjoyed it.

The first was using the in camera focus stacking, as I had forgotten to change the setting. I thought it worked well, looked better than my single shots anyway.

I'm sure (trust) you will get to love this lens.
I see you are at 100 ISO and low shutter speed. Is that showing correctly? Assume yes.
My EM5's certainly handle 1/15th - 1/20th sec okay, and looks like the G9 certainly doesn't let you down.
Just curious what a bit higher ISO and other changes would do.

Were you after shallow DOF? Just curious.

At least its all digital so you can experiment freely and not run up expensive development charges as in days of old :p
Keep up the good work.

I was really just playing, trying different shutter speeds, and the light was poor. I am so tired just now from work, that I didn't even think about iso! I even had to look up the manual to work out how to change to manual focus. Early photos were auto, which is a disadvantage for macro of course.

It's been good i that it has made me look at features of the camera that I hadn't really done until now. Good learning.

I enjoy experimenting with DOF using a macro lens, well any lens really. DOF and bokeh are two things I love to experiment with. Probably the wrong season to have bought a macro - but I'll have fun with
it :-)

Question...

When you take a picture is there not a setting for immediate review of the picture? Or do you always have to hit the replay button?

Other cameras I have had had an option to set the time the replay would display. I haven't been able to find that feature if it exists on the G9. Seems I have to always hit the replay button to review the last picture.

I was all set to get that lens, but dawdled and missed out on the $150 instant rebate. Now I have to wait vmad

Great for macro, I had one on my first foray into M43.

Yes there is. I don't have my G9 with me, but the GX9 menu is similar...

If it is the same in the "C wrench" menu, monitor/display setting, "Auto Review", duration time

I notice on many mirrorless cameras that they are setup to go only to ISO 200.

Enabling the Extended ISO allow ISO 100 to be used.

What's the point of this? Is there any drawback to shooting extended ISO (ISO 100)?

Odd.

Some m4/3 sensors had a base ISO of 200. If you set the extended ISO, and then used ISO 100, you lost a bit of dynamic range.
The GX8 and G9 don't suffer from this, it's just a bit of a hangover from earlier models. Use either, whatever works for you.
Personally, I only really ever drop to ISO 100 of I deliberately want lower shutter speeds ie fill flash, introducing a bit of movement blur, or using primes wide open outdoors.

Yep and I also found this explanation: https://petapixel.com …-marketing-of-iso-ranges/ (external link)

Since ISO 200 is native for the G9 I don’t suppose there is all that much benefit to extend the ISO range except in a situation like @speedync pointed out.
