My favorite hardly ever off the camera, 14-140 and that was a hand held shot also!

I've been playing with the 14 -140 and getting some nice results, even though I have not come terms with focus yet :-

I dabbled in M4/3 about 5 years ago, ended up ditching it though. Had been thinking about it more and more recently, not being real happy with native lens options for my EOS M50. Local store had a big sale last weekend and on impulse I picked up a Pany GX85 with the 12-32mm and 45-150mm lenses, spare battery, and external charger for $388 out the door.

Loving the size and rangefinder style, I decided i really missed the format. Decided to get the G85 as a companion, 12-60mm and 100-300mm lenses. Now I am wondering if the G9 might be the better choice. Roughly $1000 difference, that isn’t necessarily a problem, just wonder if the difference between G85 12-60mm f/3.5-5.6 and the G9 with 12-60mm f/2.8-4 is worth it.

Noise at higher ISO having always been an issue with M4/3, is it better/same/worse with the 20mp sensors vs. the 16mp? Does the high res mode where it combines to a 80mp file make a significant difference in IQ/appearance?

I got the G85 from Adorama, so I can certainly box it back up and go the other way. Thoughts?

I upgraded from a G85 to G9, and have a GX85 as my second body. My opinion is that the IQ of the G9 is a little better, with less noise and better dynamic range. If I was regularly shooting in low light I would probably look at a full frame camera, but for what I shoot the G9 does a great job, and a fast prime or 2 covers me for low light situations.
The G9 isn’t a small camera, but it fits my hand a lot better than the G85, and I have the GX85 that I take when I want small and lightweight.

Thanks for the info, I also have the EOS R, but would like a smaller camera and lenses for travel. I have an EOS M50, great camera but never been satisfied with the native lenses and once you go adapter route for EF/EF-S you lose the size advantage.

One of the uses would be landscape. Have you used the 80mp feature? Does it make a noticeable difference?

I will continue to ponder over the weekend, maybe pop into the local camera store and see one in person.

Decided to go big and return the G85 in favor of the G9. I appreciate that the kit lens with the G9 is the 12-60mm 2.8-4 vs the 12-60mm 3.5-5.6 version that comes with the G85.

Also went ahead and ordered the 7-14mm f/4 lens. Curious to see if it will work for my Real Estate jobs.

I guess I am back in to MFT in a big way - two bodies and five lenses!

I bought body and took it from there, 3 lenses two of which get little use, I am not as active as I once was, or would like to be. Enjoy your G9 :)

The GX85 kit came with 12-32mm and 45-150mm. I will probably sell the 45-150mm, not one I would have bought. Kit was $388 with the two lenses and additional battery with external charger so a hell of a deal.

12-32mm will live on the GX85, makes for a great compact kit. G9 came with the 12-60mm f/2.8-4 which will be the main lens. 7-14mm will be indoor/real estate and I also picked up the 100-300mm for wildlife. Will probably end up with the 14-150mm as well, seems to get good reviews.

Should start posting some pics in the next day or so as I get used to it.

The 100-300 is an excellent lens for the price. It’s no 600 f4L, but it does easily fit in your carry on. It is quite sharp wide open at 300mm, and has quite nice bokeh. The impressive dual IS has saved me from myself quite a few times too.
