I checked my 5D with 24-105 L. It is 1600 grams. I like to walkaround with it, but weight...
G9 with PanaLeica 12-60 is just under 1000 grams. Looks like good replacement.

While with f1.7 zoom G9 is 1300 grams which is slightly heavier and even bulkier than mine RP with 16-35 f2.8 via adapter.

Yet, I don't mind flash for indoors at all. Looks like Godox TT350O Mini is good match for 12-60. I'm using f5.6-8 and WA lenses. It is a family thing :) .

All good. Nothing wrong with a bit of flash. I don't mind adding a bit of flash even using faster primes myself. Even outdoors for a bit of shadow fill. Personally, I think that m4/3 strengths lay in its excellent selection of format specific, tiny and light fast primes. Which are also very reasonably priced. Couple of examples of fill flash with my high speed sync capable flash.

It's the great dynamic range equaliser outdoors, and subject noise remover

Great stuff. Teeny Tiny photographer snucked in ;)

In Film days I had a hammer head off camera flash, 6 volt wet cell battery etc. Fill flash is good, brings out details in the dark and on black cars at hot rod shows. Fill flash from behind the model puts haloes in the hair. Fill flash is excellent at karate competitions, use slow aperture and shutter speed, yet stops the fast stuff. Magic. Do it on al sorts, ice scating, kids school sports etc. My Flash was always on my camera and buzzing (next charge coming :)). The bracket design made for an easier way to carry camerera prepared for a shot. Portraits do well also, I have even done it for fruit on a tree. On or off the camera, let her rip. BTW you must use your flash regularly otherwise the electronics die from lack of use.

Ha ha. I was actually referring to the camera, rather than flash ߘ But yeah, still gets used quite a bit (the flash) Since I've bought the little Lumix 12-35 2.8 I've been practicing up a bit with it, with lockdown's and all, not to mention stealing the rechargeable batteries out of it for my work lights, it's not seen much use the last few months. That's more been rectified, hopefully will see a few car shows start up again.
That's another reason I rather like the slightly larger size of the G9 & grip, it doesn't become all top heavy and uncontrollable like the tiny bodies, when you throw a half reasonable flashgun on it. I'm kinda wondering though, if I should have bought some true, radio remote triggers, for off camera flash. The cable I've got is still a little bit limiting at times. And I think m4/3 remote flash is line of sight, rather than true radio remote. Sigh. Something else to learn and experiment with

Coming up 4 1/2 years now, hasn't missed a beat, still going strong, still love it as much as when I bought it. With the firmware updates, it's now quite a bit better camera than when I first bought it. Goes everywhere with me, it may not have been cheap, but it's damn well made. Couldn't ask for any more.

Can't argue on that score. Good testimony for the G9.
They certainly can and do give excellent images.
I'm surprised how cheap they are now. Bet you paid more back then. Such is the way these go.

Still giving me great pleasure. Out with my tiny little Laowa 10mm f2. Waiting for the new Panasonic Leica 9mm f1.7 to become available. That should be a brilliant little bit of kit.
