Ok.. Some silliness after a work of art

Etch-A-Sketch and the Letter E

QUOTED IMAGE

Not silly at all Joayne, I seriously need to improve my skills as I'd like to take stills of some collections, coins and knives to mention a couple. If you have time to comment on how you set up for this shot I would appreciate it.

Terry, Penny and I had lunch at a Bar and Grill there in Medora that had a table like the one I made. Theirs appeared to be a Western Red Cedar and had western themed sketches like cowboys roping calves burned into the surface. After sitting at that table for an hour or so I was informed by my wife that I should make one for our home. It may have been called Boots Bar&Grill, not sure. I was able get out of the project for a couple years then we returned to see the Musical, take photos in TRNP and wouldn't you know my wife went straight to the place and took pics with her cell phone so I wouldn't "forget" how to make it. Penny has brought home many ideas from both North and South Dakota that will keep me busy in the shop.

Grizz/Steve - It's more what I do in PS

Setup shot.. Messy work area, window light and a small LED light

Brought into PS Bridge. Set White Balance. Small amount of Clarity, Push the Contrast (a lot), Decrease Black to take out and level all the Blacks, and give it a touch of Highlights to show some detail.

Cropped in PS, Resized and that's about it.

A tutorial! Cool, Jo.

I have two Extra's. Extra's because I hadn't planned on contributing again for this week's theme and Extra because it's an Extra special bird for me: Long-tailed Tits, tiny and fast moving. I'm always delighted to see them. I only had my 300/4 bare on the 1D4 and took a few shots. Then added the 2xTC but they didn't wait for it and left. Both shots are big crops.

Joayne, thank you for taking the time to reply. This is nothing like I was expecting. Amazing. I thought there might be an elaborate lighting setup in a much larger area, shows how little I know. My editing skills fall short, only use DPP so need to get the best shot I can right out of camera. I will try setting something up as you have and see what happens, may surprise myself.
